700r4 Trans with an LQ4?

Okay so I have an 89 Silverado with a stock 350 and a 700r4. I'm wanting to do the LQ4 swap this summer hopefully so I'm doing research on it. My transmission was rebuilt back in November and has less than 1000miles on it so I'm hoping to use it, I know its possible to the old style of transmissions but I'm not clear what all is necessary/what kinds of issues may arise. Correct me If I'm wrong but most LS motors have a slightly shorter crank than SBC which requires a special adapter to use the old style trans like the 700r4. But the LQ4 is rather unique in the fact that the crank is longer so an adapter is not needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you.

Do you already have a LQ4? the 01+ ones should come with the crank spacer and flexplate you'd need to use already

Re: 700r4 Trans with an LQ4?

I'm just gonna say this, because someone is bound to, so it might as well be me;

You will smoke that 700r4. A cammed 6.0 will burn through that trans in a season if you like to ever get hard on the thing. Even with the proper TV cable bracket, I just don't trust the 700r4. I burned one up with a sub 300hp 355.
The 4l60e isn't the strongest thing behind a 6L, and the 700r4 was that, minus a computer and a few better internals.

I'm not saying it won't work, but I am saying that its life will be terminal.

Br3w City- Thank you. I suppose I'll have to do some more research into this. I appreciate it

I'm with Brew. Sell it to someone on CL while it still works, and put that money toward a 60/80e....with the strong nod to the 80.

Re: 700r4 Trans with an LQ4?

I have a burb with a cammed lq4 and a 700r4. Mine is supposed to be built for 450 hp. It has lived for 3-4 years and only thing I have killed is my first lock up converter. But I am waiting for the day it fails. I am with everyone and wish I put a 4l80 in. I get a little nervous every time I get on it. I just know 4th will give out one day going up the hill to my work.
