What duel electric fans are you guys running?
I'm about to start tearing the front end of my motor down to fix a leak around the timing chain cover ( also get rid of the gear drive that I thought was cool a few years ago but now it just gets on my nerves). Anyway I want to add duel electric fans. The truck has a over sized radiator already. Any help and/or pictures would be appreciated.

Re: What duel electric fans are you guys running?
On my suburban, I'm using Derale dual fans.
http://derale.com/products/electric-...ual-powerpacks They work well, and aren't loud. I needed a fair bit of airflow because I have limited rad area on the 64, and I was towing a 3500# enclosed trailer for 500 miles on 85+F days. On my 77, I'm using dual fans out of a chevy sprint. Cost me $20. Then I made up a bracket to hold them. Those fans are still working today, and they've been on my truck for 15 years, and the Sprint was clapped out when I swiped them from the junkyard. These don't move the air of the Derale, but they do work. Oh, and I had to redo my suburban fans. I started out with a 16" single with no shrouding, but that didn't cut the mustard.

Theres a forum member named Gmachinz.... he makes some really cool setups for electric fans. He can help you out and keep the cost down.

Re: What duel electric fans are you guys running?
I got a pusher fan from a Geo Metro because the mounting frame fit nicely in front of the one side that was open in front of the A/C condensor. The other side had the factory oil cooler in the way. Without the oil cooler, I suppose that two Metro fans would have worked. I wanted extra cooling for the condensor, so I wired it into the power circuit for the A/C compresor - it turns on when the compressor turns on. It is much better than A/C cooling without it, but 134A with the old factory condensor limits A/C performance.

I have had really good luck with the late 90s Ford Windstar Van Fans. They are cheap from the junk yard, but can be bought online for around $90. I have used them on a 6.2 diesel, a Small block chevy, Big block chevy, and now the LS with great results. Each fan can be wired separately if wanted.

I just looked on RockautoIt .com under a 1997 with a 3.8.
It looks like all Windstar Vans from 1995 to 2003 came with the same fan assembly. Yes that's the factory shroud with the tabs cut off and holes cut for the hoses. |
