engine and drive train

I'm new on here. I have a 1970 c10 stepside project. I have a 350 crate engine with a mild cam. Also have a 700r4 Trans with a 2000 stall and shift kit. The rear end has 3.73 gear ratio. Is the rear end a good setup for the transmission or get lower gears?

I think you'll find you and your truck are very happy with that combination, although I'm not sure you need the 2000 stall.

And welcome to the board.

Re: engine and drive train

That's how I got it. It's a brand new transmission. As long as it does good on the highway I'm fine with it.

Welcome aboard! That's a great combo for these old trucks.

Re: engine and drive train

I had the same transmission and gears in my last 70 Chevelle behind a LT-1 fuel injected motor. Was real peppy off the line and cruised right on down the freeway without buzzing the motor.
Like was said earlier, the stall might get annoying, but I think you will enjoy the rest. Not the end of the world if you ever wanted to swap anything out either.

The 700r4 and 3.73's are about as perfect a combination as you will find. I think you will like it just fine.

Re: engine and drive train

I ran the numbers on the rear end it read TDA which indicates a 3.73 gears. The rest reads 0606W1. I was trying to figure that out but couldn't does it indicates a posi or not?
