Project "don't sell this one"

Well I'm back after a 3 or so year hiatus from having a C10. Had a kid in that time frame and also one on the way arriving April 2015. This is my like 4th one or so now. Can't stay away. Always come back to them. This time is a 86 short fleet that I stole for $300 bucks. Can't complain there. Bought it about 2 weeks ago really haven't touched it until today. In that 2 weeks I did end up buying a 5.3 and 4L60 out of a 02 1500. This time I'm not giving in and selling and I hope you all encourage me to keep pushing on this one. Pics now so I'm not worthless haha.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"

Those were the day I picked it up. No wheels on it. Had to borrow some rollers from a friend to get it towed home. And these are as it sat today when I left my shop. Oh and the Ls I picked up. Can't wait for the swap.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"

In those years of not owning a truck I did build another newer car. Volkswagens are my other weakness so I opted for a newer one. Bagged 2008 rabbit. Needless to say yes the c10 will be bagged as well. Here's the rabbit though.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"

How much does a 5.3 and tranny go for? I'd really like to find one with a 4L80E, 4WD, but that might be asking a lot. Sadly the 6.0 seems to be harder to find and more money.

Have you done that swap before? How hard is wiring?

Nope haven't don't this swap before. Gonna be a learning experience in the c10. I'll keep it updated here in the build thread. 5.3's are relatively inexpensive in my opinion. I picked up the motor and trans for 800.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"

Well that was a steal.

No shame in the 5.3 either. You can get almost as much power out of that then the 6.0 too. Small turbo & intercooler will send that truck into hyper drive!

Yeah man I can't complain. Gonna be a fun reliable truck that I'll drive anywhere. I have a great tuner at my shop that's promising me around 450 at wheels n/a. I'll be ok with that haha.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"

Well not much has been done since after Xmas. Did get some of those dirty dingo LSX mounts from the wife for Xmas. And also brought the truck to my house for a little bit to allow me to work into the nights to get this thing done. Got side tracked cause my other cars air compressor went out (air zenith) now changing that to Viair and redoing the entire trunk setup. Well here's some pictures so im not worthless. Soon a drop member is in my future haha.

Yep 5.3 in the near near future. And here's a couple more pictures of the trucks first out of the garage play date with friends and she got a little pressure washing done.

That's a mean c10 volks! Real sweet!

Really nice to see your truck build coming along. It's a lot of work but it feels good once you see it coming together.

Anyways i can see the diamond in the rough and good luck with the build!
