How to tell if Sport Bumpers are OEM ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Is there a way to tell if a set of Sport Bumpers is OEM and not aftermarket? Is there a part number stamped somewhere or another indicator. There is a set of bumpers off of a 71 the seller claims are OE. I wondered if I could confirm that by looking at them. Thanks.

The only pearl I'm aware of (and I give credit to Paul Duncan for this) OEM front bumpers have two holes to mount a license plate not four. However, repro bumpers can have two but some have four. If four plate holes on a front bumper it's a repro. GM did not stamp part #'s onto bumpers unfortunately.

My original front bumper has sharper bends than my repro. The repro is also lighter weight. Not sure about the rears.
