Question 1971 chevy c10 I6 lwb PCV valve grommet

I bought one of these from O'Reilly recently to replace one that was clearly leaking. O'Reilly wasn't clear on the part number for my engine, so I special ordered three:

PCV919
PCV916
PCV917

And I ended up using PCV919 because it seemed like the closest fit to stock (or whatever was in the hole at the time - no telling if it was stock).

I also replaced the PCV valve, with one from Autozone.

The new PCV grommet, while it felt like a good fit, seems to leak just like the old one. I see little beads of oil between the grommet and the PCV valve during operation.

Any tips for this?

I have a '68 C/10 w/292 L6. I use the part that looks closest to p/n 916. Mine doesn't leak.
You might troubleshoot your whole PCV circuit. Are there blockages in the hose? PCV valve rattle when you shake it? Does it connect to the carb or manifold? The other end should have a grommet in the drivers side of the valve cover and go to the air cleaner, but mine is not stock and I forget the original configuration.
It's the positive crankcase ventilation system, but I'm not sure of the flow direction. Let's say crankcase oil vapors are sucked from one end drawn by intake vacuum, and fresh air flows into the valve cover from the other end. An overpressure occurs because some part of the circuit is open or blocked, and not flowing right.
I suppose you could seal it with red RTV around the grommet and hose but usually it's not necessary.
