Clutch rod - pedal to bell crank

Is anyone reproducing the clutch rod that goes from the cab, through the firewall, to the bell crank (z-bar)? Every rod I see or find is worn out from years of pivoting with no lubrication.

talk about worn out!!! i been looking for an oem piece, no luck so ima prep and build weld the ends and file to shape it!!!

Mine looks just like that - maybe a little more worn, but only on one end.

Truck and Car Shop (shops in Orange, CA & Charlotte, NC) has the upper rod listed for 67-72 and from everything I've read, the upper rod is the same as 1963-66. If the length is different and it doesn't work, then I'd recommend upgrading to the heim joint style conversion. LMC sells it.

Braze it up and file it round again is what i would do ...last another 50+ years

I actually did make my own with a pair of those joints, sources locally, and the rod worked pretty good. The problem now is that I just replaced my headers with another brand/style and there is now no room for the bolt that holds the rod to the z-bar.
$100 is pretty steep. I used my existing rod, cut the ends off and threaded it. The joints were about $8 each.

I may have an extra you can have Greg...let me look tonight. The stepside was converted to hydraulic clutch and I converted the fleetside to an auto, so I have at least one sitting around as I know one was sent to another member. I'll let you know once I get out there tonight.

I have had the same problem. I used my MIG welder to fill up the area and ground it back to shape. Worked great. Though I haven't used the hiem joint setup on a truck, I did use a similar setup on a '69 Camaro and it worked awesome. Everything seemed so much smoother in operation with the hiems.

I have found that the brass generally works better than original as it is a dissimilar metal and therefor acts like a bearing

I liked the smooth operation of the hiem ends but there is now no room for the one end.

I thought that it was expensive to and that is why I suggested the ends and make your own

the holes are usually worn to and it is easy to just bore them out and insert a brass bushing. so instead of brazing , hard weld instead and clean up the end
