Rochester 4G rebuild?
I know a lot of people rebuild Rochester Quadrajets but what about its predecessor, the 4G, that came from the factory on 327 trucks. Is there a 4G guru out there that anyone knows of?

Re: Rochester 4G rebuild?
Its been a long time but I used to do some. They are actually easier then a Q-jet. Take care adjusting the float levels. They are about like a 2GC but larger.

Give it a go. I'm putting a 2G back together this afternoon. Disassemble, match gaskets, clean, reassemble.

Re: Rochester 4G rebuild?
Are many people still running this OEM carb on their 327 trucks? Can't seem to find much about them here on the site.

Re: Rochester 4G rebuild?
AFAIK I'm running the original carb, pretty sure it's 4G. Drove it for about 5 or 6 years after I bought it without being able to go over 45mph. Finally pulled it off and took it to an old guy that rebuilt it. Did a bang up job, got up to 70 the first time I tried, still had plenty left but I had no desire to see how that truck handled any faster than that

Re: Rochester 4G rebuild?
I'm interested also. I have a 4g that came on the 1958 348 big block going in the fleetside and since it'll be a milder build than the one I just completed I'd like to retain the original carb.

Re: Rochester 4G rebuild?
Do it! My 2G was ridiculously easy. I really enjoyed it. I think I'll do the Mono on my truck, and the 4GC on my 65 Impala just to update them.
