Question Where to buy e brake cables?

I searched through some threads and came up with LMC but when I Look in their catalog I don't see the right combination of factors to add up to my truck. they list the front and the intermediate ok but the rears not so much. my truck is a 71 c20 2wd long bed small block engine and standard transmission with leaf springs and the Dana 60 rear axle. Under wo BB 3/4 ton 68-72 lwb it only lists with coil springs. Does anybody know if one of the other listings is right for this app? or what and where is the right place to look? Auto zone only lists with coil spring too and I cant figure if Rock auto has the right one either ,seems like you might need the part number.

I'm not sure if your rear end is too specialized or not (I have a 12 bolt), but I got my rear cables that attach to the drum from Napa Auto. They had it for me the next day from their warehouse.

Re: Where to buy e brake cables?

LMC has a few options there and one of them is "w/o coil springs." The quality is ok, I just ordered a full set and replaced all of my e-brake cables yesterday.

What is the difference between the longbed and the Longhorn as far as brake cables are concerned?

There is 34-3840 which is for "67-70" with leaf springs, and there is 34-3846 for Longhorn 71-72 models...

Try Inline Tube. They don't sell junk so they are a little more expensive and worth it.

Re: Where to buy e brake cables?

Nothing specialized about this rear end its just the dana not the eaton. When I looked at the link to inline tube it lists rear cables for all long 67-72 3/4 tons with manual trans and leafs under the same number. So would that follow that LMC's listing for 67-70 3/4 ton with leafs should also be the same? If I had more money to spend on this project I would probably just buy the stainless, seems like the way to go. I'm way over budget just on what I've got into it now.

And I'm gonna call Napa today. No O'reillys nearby that I'm aware of.

Re: Where to buy e brake cables?

I just picked up a couple from Orielly's Auto Parts. They seem a little long, but with some adjustment they should work.

Re: Where to buy e brake cables?

If you still have the old rusty or damaged cable you can send it to Inline Tube, they will make you a new cable using the old as a template.
Thats what I had to do for my 1968 truck, it came out perfect

Re: Where to buy e brake cables?

I actually have 2 -67's in the yard here both have leafs and both have the dana , Im going to pull a wheel later and see if there is any difference. I can't see why there would be, all 3 have the same drums and shoes. The only difference that I know of is the studs are bigger on the 71, shouldn't make any difference to brake cables. I don't know why I didn't think of that before, to compare that is, I must be getting older than I thought.
