Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

I owned a couple similar to those many years ago. They never failed me but I never really trusted them. Actually I don't fully trust the ones I now own either -- if the cast locking tabs are defective they could snap off under load.

sure. I'd trust them to hold up a slab of plate glass as a coffee table

They look more like camper jacks but I would not use them under my cars or trucks .

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

I've used jack stands in the past. Like everyone else....never really trusted them. So I always left the jack under neath as well holding a little bit of the lod so if the stand went...least the jack would be there. I ain't gettin crushed anytime soon let me tell ya.

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

I use to have a set like that a while back, I pulled the Jeep up on my ramps to do a oil change then layed one on it's side as a chock under a rear tire.

Need I say, I forgot it was there and flattened it like a pancake !

The other now holds my trash trailer tong up off the ground.....

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

Lol reminds me of the cylinder block Jacks. Not worth the risk of getting hurt. I just buy some good ones and way over kill when jacking up my vehicles. Wife helps a lot with reminding me to use them also.

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

If they were a rummage sale find for a few $$$'s I'd take them for fab purposes. Stuff like that is really good for making rear axle jigs/dollies, or supporting pipe lengths for welding on a table.

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

My dad is always looking for "a bargain" and had set like that ..one of them collapsed under a s10..knowing him he probably didnt have it sitting on the ground level...luckily he wasn't under it and I immediatly destroyed the rest of em.

Re: Do these Jack Stands look safe to you

I have a whole set like that holding my frame off the ground. They are cheap, and work great for all kinds of light-duty jobs, including camper leveling. I also use them under my trailer when it's not connected to the truck, so I can step up in it without it tilting.

They work fine for holding up a lawn tractor, etc.

I have a set of big heavy duty types for holding a vehicle or anything really heavy off the ground.
