Craigslist find

Found this on the local craigslist and thought I would share.
I have never seen another one, I just had to have it!! Oh Oh!!..
It is a 1969 C40 milk truck it has a rebuilt 292 with a 4 spd, It still has functioning refrigeration, it was a long, noisy 1.5 hr drive home with that blown muffer,6 cyl screaming at top speed of 58 mph (downhill with a tailwind).
Not sure what the plans are as of yet other than adding it to my collection of Medium duty trucks.

Re: Craigslist find

Even though it is TALL! the wheelbase is only 127", the same as a long bed pickup.

Re: Craigslist find

Cool Truck.

Like the Wide Front Fenders, which should mean a heavier Front Axle.

Great Engine too. When you replace the Muffler, put a Straight-Thru on it for a sweet sound and better performance, as well as better gas mileage.

Good thought, although I do have a 1969 P10 (shorty step van) to possibly turn into an ice cream truck

Re: Craigslist find

Great score!! Those Medium Duties look way better than the duck bill 10-30s. There was one near here that belonged to a truck stop that was sitting out back a long time. I never talked to them and it ended up gone. I'm thinking swap meet truck. Not sure about the rest if the time. Sure would be a great race car hauler if that's what you needed.

Re: Craigslist find

So you couldn't hold back Mark lol I've seen that for sale a few times down there and always thought about adding it to my collection and use it as an ice cream truck. Will be cool no matter what you do with it.

I say airbag it on some 24" Alcoas with a Blown 454 and leave the body. Sleeper milk truck

You could paint it yellow, paint some windows on the side and drive a "short bus".
Nice score!

Seems like it will be easy to work on. A lot of what I see is very accessible.

Looks a lot like the armored car (bank delivery) trucks of that era.

That's what I thought after seeing that side short...and hearing it's built by Atlas "Armory". That would make an excellent "spoof" of a theme. Might get your ride interrupted unexpectedly a time or two. Maybe name it Po' Folks Armored Car Service,Empty Pockets, or something like that. I'd paint windows/gun slots and no cut a thing. Rusty gave me an idea, call it Dirty Diaper Delivery

Re: Craigslist find

Hey if its the same wheel base as a long bed will it sit on a pick up chassis, or is a pick up chassis too narrow? And is the truck too heavy for a standard pick up chassis?

Im talking minus all the refrigerator stuff

Drew, I agree.. so many ways.. so little time.. I've had it for just over a year and have not touched it. Want a Milk Truck?? I feel its time for it to leave.
It comes with a complete running 1991 Motor home chassis with a Fuel injected 454 At. tilt, etc.

Re: Craigslist find

You could accomplish anything on that chassis that putting it on a 1t frame would accomplish...but with a solid beam axle.

We have a small dairy the started up with good old fashioned delivery. Their trucks are painted like Holsteins (of course). At first they were using old trucks and only delivering around the county. One was a 67-72 like this and now it sits out along US40 where you turn to go the dairy. It's a great billboard and landmark, but I'd sure like to see that thing keep rolling.

Re: Craigslist find

Great find, talk about blind spots though. It would work great as a sweep vehicle for large motorcycle runs. You could keep all kinds of tools and support equipment in that.
