PCHRODS - 1969 C-10 "Phillips 69"

As per the request of a few members on here, I am starting a thread about a previous build we did back in 2007. This is my personal truck that I have owned since 1997. Pretty much the longest relationship I've ever had. My wife hates that comment. But it's true. We all know that building a project becomes a part of you, and gives you the opportunity to express your thoughts in sheetmetal form. Hope you guys like it.

Awesome truck Rob.

Why did you use a 468 cu in big block over a LS or small block? Did you have to change the front clip or just the motor mounts for the 468 cu?

Re: PCHRODS - 1969 C-10 "Phillips 69"

I chose a big block for two reasons 1.) I am an old school guy when it comes to motors. 2.) I already had the motor sitting there in the shop and figured why not, right? it was originally for a 72 K30 i was building, and long since parted ways with. i didn't have to really change anything, a 468 is a 454 block bored out .060 So we just used the factory big block frame mounts for a c10 and bought the rubber mounts from Early Classic in Fresno. Core support and all the other sheet metal is all 68 parts. We are planning on tearing this truck down later this fall for a well needed overhaul. The truck currently weighs 3800 lbs without me in it. She needs to go on a diet. We'll also be putting in an LS engine similar to the one in our C10R project

Re: PCHRODS - 1969 C-10 "Phillips 69"

Any way you could post pics of how you ran the exhaust from that monster big block? I know rear sway bars and the rest of that Hotchkis TVS kit take up some real estate out back, just curious how you handled it. Also, what is this PCH Rods harness bar you speak of? I'd like to see a pic of it you you can post it up.

give me a couple days and I will try and get you some photos. that truck has been tucked away sleeping in the enclosed trailer with a broken trans. i'll have to climb out there and see if I can get it for you.

I heard this truck is getting an overhaul and was wondering if you have any pics or if I missed a build thread.

Unfortunetly we will not be posting a build thread on this forum. Due to the fact that our last thread on our C10R was closed and locked with no explanation from the site moderator. So if you would like to stay up to date on what we are doing come over to www.pro-touring.com To check out what we are up to with the C10R as well as the 69 C-10. Sorry for the hassle, but we thank you and everyone else for their continued support.

Thanks for letting me know and I'll definitely check it out. I'm thinking about setting up my 67 to autocross so your trucks have been a big inspiration.

Awesome truck. Seen it a few times down in Del Mar. The fit an finish are bar none a 10/10 in my book. I'd love to see some fab pics of the drip rails. What did you do for steering?
