soft ride

Ever since I bagged my truck it rides rougher than I think it should. I am running hydraulic shocks on the front and back. Just thought I would ask what you guys use and what is the softest riding shock for the money. the truck is a 66 short stepside. Thought about pulling the shocks and take it for a test ride to see if there is any difference.

Re: soft ride

most times bagged guys use shocks that are too short and are made for short travel springs. you want a gas charged long travel shock. I have shocks from a jeep rubicon, 9-10" travel and gas charged, my ride is pillow soft even a couple inches off the ground.

make sure you have the right bag too and are running the right air pressure. your driving pressures should be 80-90 for the front and 30-60 for the rear. if they are higher than that, the spring rate is also very high.

Re: soft ride

to get a decent ride I am running around 60psi in the front but I have to watch for dips in the road, sometimes it will bottom out. the long stroke shock sound like a good idea would just need to extend my shock mounts.

Re: soft ride

Changed the front shocks out this weekend. Went with a set from a 94 F150 because they had the right length and had the stud mount on top which made it easier to make new upper mounts. Big improvement on the ride quality, thanks for the help!
