Pulling out 454 TBI setup.

I have a TBI 454 setup I am pulling out of my 88 R30. Is it something that is worth pulling to use in a swap for something else or just hack it out and trash it?

Ebay it. TBI guys are always looking for 454 TBIs since they have larger throttle bores.

Re: Pulling out 454 TBI setup.

I took out the 454 & 3l80 out of my 88 v3500. I labeled every wire and kept it all extremely neat. I had all the parts including cruise control, vacuum stuff, radiator, belts hoses ect. I was asking 1200 and ended up selling for 800 and I am in a very rural part of utah. Lots of people wanted to buy it but wanted me to ship it for free haha no. Looking back I wish i would have kept it. These motors have the big throttle body as mentioned above, and they have rectangle port heads and 4 bolt main cranks. With a tune, headers and a rv cam they can make a reliable 300 horsepower. Good out of the box swap material but I needed the cash for my cummins swap more.

Re: Pulling out 454 TBI setup.

If your talking about just the throttle body and wiring harness It will definatly be a royal pain to sort out all the wires you need to keep and pull. If you are just converting to carb just sell the throttle body. I guarantee there is someone on this forum looking for one. The wiring harnesses are almost the same for all these tbi motors but the big throttle body is a killer easy swap for a 350. Maybe throw in the unneeded sensors into the box for a bonus but dont just chuck it! lol

Re: Pulling out 454 TBI setup.

Im actually doing an 8.1. I just wasnt sure if this TBI stuff was of any use anymore. I sold a complete setup off my old 350 to a guy that did rock crawling but thats been a few years. Thanks for the insight guys.

Definitely don't junk it! If you were going that route I would pay for the shipping to send it to me!

Harness is easy to pull in one piece. Save it. I would buy if we were close by each other.
