gmc dash in a chevy

ive got a 63 gmc dash and was wondering if anyone has put onne in a 64 and up cab? if you look at images the 63 and 64 cab dashes look the same even with the different cabs.

Re: gmc dash in a chevy

the only real difference is the placement of the radio and heater/ashtray...

the instrument clusters should all interchange, but maybe keep the wiring harness that comes with the cluster that you use...

imo if you want the earlier style controls, I would just cut the center out and weld it in, no reason to try to graft the wrap around post portion of the 63 with the slant post of the 64....

Re: gmc dash in a chevy

im talking complete dash... drilling out the million spot welds in my 64 chevy c10 dash and replacing with a 63 gmc dash. Im concerned that the fact the pillars are different it may cause issues. But if you look at the 63 gmc dash with wrap around pillar front windshield looks the same as the 64 tilt pillar gmc dash. The gmc dash compared to the chevy dash are totally different.

Re: gmc dash in a chevy

I didn't see that you have a chevy!
to make the "knee knocker" dash work in a 64-66, you have to fabricate a couple sheet metal panels to blend the edge of the dash to the door frame.

the part by the windshield will fit.

here are some photos of member RockTonka's 64-66 with a 63 chevy dash... same concept on the pillars as your gmc.

that is why I suggest sourcing the gmc under dash wiring harness as well
