These gaskets ok?

I know alot of folks don't use gaskets on ram horn manifolds but these came with them and I figured I would spray some copper sealer on them and use them.

Are these ok or should I get different ones?

These are my first set of ram horns so I appreciate the input.

Those look like the ones for the ends. You should have ones for the double ports in the middle. I would use them, run them a few miles to get some heat in them. Let them cool off and then retorque the bolts.

I agree with chevy_mike. I would use those gaskets and retorque them each time after the first 2 or 3 heat cycles.

I've got the rest of them in a bag for the middle ports. Should I spray that copper gasket stuff on them or just install them dry?

if your heads and manifolds are flat i wouldn't use them. gm didn't

Every factory manifold I have removed, from many different model of Chevy vehicles, always had them, or in some cases what was left of them.

Oh and I have installed them dry.

chevy, olds, etc.... v8's never had manifold gaskets from the factory back in the 50's, 60's, 70's...
assuming, of course, the op has an engine of that era. otherwise gaskets were aftermarket. if the heads/manifolds are flat they will seal up and last longer without the gaskets. gaskets tend to fail over time
if you insist on using gaskets install dry. you can use something like 3m spray adhesive to hold them in place if you need to.

Well I guess the original 327 in my first '68 C10 and my original 350 in my '69 Camaro don't count. Both had never had the exhaust manifolds off prior to me pulling the engines.

i don't want to get into a pissing contest because i really don't care. just stating facts. i worked first in a chevy dealership parts dept then on the line in the 60's to the early 80's and they didn't come in off the car hauler with gaskets on the exh manifolds. exception would be the z28 with headers but if i remember correctly that was a dealer installed option.

My local machinist says if the manifolds are new or freshly surface and the head mating surface is machined as well tthen you don't need them. But, if your stuff is less than ideal, just use them. That's what they're for.
