Dual master cylinder fluid?
Anyone using anything special in their dual master/clutch cylinders? Just went to top mine off and realized I never gave it a second thought before... What's the best fluid to use?

Re: Dual master cylinder fluid?
Yeah I remember reading a debate about this a few years ago, but I couldn't find my way back to the thread. Someone was arguing for using Dot 5 fluid but I didn't recall the reason. Higher temp makes sense. This is a reg duty truck so I'll stay with Dot 3. Thanks

Re: Dual master cylinder fluid?
Quote:
a) Silicone fluid does not mix with conventional fluids, so you have to flush the whole thing out. b) General Motors would recommend that you rebuild, replacing any seals AND HOSES that had been in contact with the previous conventional fluid c) I have had bad experiences with Dot 5 (failed master cylinders on a regular basis). Going back to Dot 3 eliminated those problems. K
