Newby w/ 65 c10 w/ a 472
Hello All !!!
Been begging the misses for a project rig for a while now and somehow she finally said yes when i found this screaming deal i couldn't pass up. i recently picked up this 65 C10 Long bed, looks like a 62 grill with a beast of a 472 v8 caddy motor in it!! and i think a turbo 350 auto trans. It has some ugly 22" rims and paint that gots to go but it will do for now. motor/trans/body are perfect and recently done. just a blinker wiring draw killing the battery. people didn't know what they had!!! I've had a few projects in my time and steel and welding have been in my blood for years but recently had to sell damn near everything i own due a hit and run accident i had a few years back leaving me in a wheelchair. life throws ya lemons i guess. But can't wait to start digging in this pickup and be apart of this new family!! what do yall think of this 3k truck i picked up??!! 3k!!! |

Thats AWESOME! So, got to ask, are you still in the wheelchair? Are you converting to hand controls? I ask because a good buddy is in the same situation...

Joe Dirt- right on! gotta love the NW.. i'm digging your paint. i'm really leaning towards matte mint w/ white cab. but that's a ways down the road. i just got it pulled into the garage today and noticed a few other things that need to be worked on. running a little rough, carb needs to be cleaned.. Let the fun begin! |

I wonder if hydroboost brakes would be good with hand controls. Probably gonna want power steering too I would think.

Re: Newby w/ 65 c10 w/ a 472
Here are some more pics. Its my guess its a 472. i haven't ran the vin to see what it is just yet. It was kinda a mystery buy the people didn't know much about the truck. They though it was a manual sat for a year just that it they battery kept dying. Had it running in 5 minutes and drove it on the trailer!!

Hydroboost is basically a hydraulic power assist instead of vacuum for your brakes. It makes for very powerful brakes, and it runs off of the same pump as the power steering.

Re: Newby w/ 65 c10 w/ a 472
Cool truck and welcome! 3k is a steal I'd say. 472, 500 or 510 - they are all monsters! Knew a guy when I was a kid working at a pizza parlor who would always come in wearing a "Cadillac Racing" T shirt. Finally asked him about it to find that he had his cams custom ground, made his own sheet metal intakes ect. He left the front of the pizza parlor that night with the '67 convert DeVille hooking so hard that we thought it would wheelstand. We looked at Caddy engines a little differently after that. Lol. Sounds like you have a great project there ( although it looks pretty darn clean) to keep you motivated! Keep feeding us pictures!
Chris

(Rims YES!! I like more of a clasic look.. 15" steelies w/ 3" W/W) She dose look far along and she is a very good start... but still done VERY cheaply... she looks good in the pics but has a lot of quirks here and there that need some serious attention! like i said... let the fun begin.. will be a while till where i want her to be.. End result- i just want a nice classic looking pickup to cruse and load things i cant take in my RT. |

I highly recommend the captainfab stuff. Top notch quality and fit.
I have his brake adapter on my Panel, and will be getting his steering box adapter when the time comes.

Hi, Local29 and WELCOME to the forum. Hope your experience--it's a continuous process, not just an experience every once in a while--here means as much to you as to me. Talking about a place to learn! I'd say I learn some new, interesting things each time I visit, which is almost daily.
And, don't look to ever score such a deal ever again; yours is one in a lifetime. Your ride is sharp and showy and definitely not an everyday combo, with that nice Caddy engine. After all, which GM car has always been their luxury ride? Again, welcome. And this group just loves pictures, so don't forget! Sam |

Welcome, nice buy and what a deal! Glad you plan on more "normal wheels" (I didn't want to say anything). The Caddy engine will give that truck some serious pulling power.
