temperature sender in block reads 240

I recently did an aluminum radiator and electric fans upgrade and am still tweaking the relay system, but I had a question. My temperature sender in the block reads almost 240 at idle and the gauge in the dash is slightly to the right. Is this too hot? I don't know what my thermostat is in my truck right now either.

I am a little confused on my relay system for my fans. It does cycle on and off while the motor is running, so that part seems to be working. The fans will come back on after I shut the truck off and turn the key to accessories. Is that right?

You'll never know what's accurate until you get a temp reading. I bought an infrared thermometer. It's a red dot laser that reads temperature. Check the thermostat housing temp and the top and bottom of the radiator. That'll show you what the thermostat is running at and how much cooling the radiator is actually doing.

Sorry, forgot to put that the 240 was with an ir heat gun.

Then I'd check the inlet and outlet radiator temps to see if the coolant is flowing. Maybe the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump failed.
