Alien object in intake port
The 250 in my 68 K10 always had a random misfire at lower rpm's. It would come and go...
Today I'm preparing to pull the engine for a 292 replacement so I remove the intake and found this inside...The hammered closed end was towards the valve and the port floor was clean from the tube knocking around....

I had a similar situation with my '65 Belair and its 230. I had changed the head and intake together(long story) anyway about 6 months latter when I removed the intake to install new gaskets I found one of the carb nuts sitting beside the no. 4 intake valve. Surprisingly no damage or problems were caused by it.

Serious though, it kinda looks like it could have started life as a tube under the air filter that got dislodged and your motor ate it.

That is an anti-carbonator. Keeps deposits from forming on the back of the intake valve.

I was told it's the PVC extension pipe....A short length of tubing that extends into the intake manifold and curves away from the 3-4 intake port...Supposedly the PCV could cause the enter cylinders to run lean...

2 summers ago I had to replace the intake gaskets on my 98 gmc. got the manifold off and there was a stick about the same size and length just laying in the lifter valley! I am the second owner of the truck and was friends with the previous owner. he never had the manifold off. must have came from the factory in there!

I agree. There is a short tube like that inside the center intake port. It draws vacuum from under the carb instead of from the 3-4 intake runner. It would cause a rough idle without it.
