Re: stepside brace part number?

hey butch - I think there are two braces - one long one.... and one short one seen in this picture. They are both in the box that I am sending your way. Unless I am forgetting one I think those are the only one's needed to attached the tire carrier.

You are too kind... just the kind of guy you expect to find on this forum. I already sent it back to you so put it into the truck it's free money now . If you have a picture of the brace in question I must have it around here somewhere as that bracket was on this truck when I got it... I'll happily send it on down to you.

Re: stepside brace part number?

So butch the long brace towards the front of the bed that you see to two arms attach to and then a third arm attaches on the top - that brace is the brace on the right in my picture above and I did send that along to you... I know that's the one that was on that outside front because the truck was yellow and would have been exposed to the exterior paint. The other short stubby one goes to the rear above the fender I believe and up under the rail if I recall correctly and I think that's essentially it. Maybe someone else with a spare tire can post up there's for you?

Re: stepside brace part number?

I guess mine broke, at some point, and the PO took some re-bar (left the original) and welded it together. So I have two, in one location. Just thought I'd put original back on. It's probably not difficult to make, is it. Did you heat the end and beat it flat, and then drill your hole?

Yea thats exactly what I did ,just measure the old one make it alittle long then heat, flatten, drill the end, maybe a small bend on the end if I remember right.then do the other end and your done. if you have more money than time theirs always these http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-66-CHEV...JJWWEg&vxp=mtr
