Re: Calling all Tremec owners
It's getting hard to find the front shifter kits and they are expensive but it looks like that is what we need to put a TKO 500/600 in a 67-72 with a bench seat.

Re: Calling all Tremec owners
Unless you run a custom shifter you install back wards or make one.. I had issues with the up shifting when I built the new engine , and got very frustrated with tremec answer on well you rev it too high or that now you make 600 hp its too much.. Thought that was the idea with the TKO600.. then it was the shift kit causing the issue.. ( that they sell) they its the hyd throw out etc.

Re: Calling all Tremec owners
A little info here.
This is a dark picture of an original 4 speed Muncie 420 and shifter is about 5" back from the front of the tranny. So the TKO front mounted shifter kit (that is not made anymore) would be a perfect fit in my truck at 7" back. The mid-mount shifter at 12.68" back is going to be pretty close to my bench seat. But maybe with a forward offset shift it would work out.? I can't imagine ever having my seat forward but might if I wanted my fiancee to drive my truck. Here's a link to where I got the measurement picture above: http://www.tremec.com/anexos/TRPM-TKO-0711_145.pdf

Re: Calling all Tremec owners
Put a tko500 in my 67 with stock bellhousing and a mid shifter conversion. I really enjoy the truck so much more now. Had to bend the lokar shifter back to reach 3rd and 5th. May use a QuickTime bellhousing when the 525 horse LS goes in place.
