How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
It's not like there's an "AUX IN" port on our radios, so if you add an accessory GM 8-track player, how does it connect?
Does it perhaps splice into the speaker and take over, and then you have a separate volume knob on the 8-track?

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
Yes. The 8 track has a switch in it that cuts the sound off the radio and takes over. It has its own balance and sound level buttons. The light on three radio will star on when the 8 track is on.

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
Factory ones are out of my reach but I came across this one still new in box, 3 in one unit. I think it looks good in our trucks. No push button thow,

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
Don't have any of mine hooked up yet, but they took different speakers into the kick panels. The 8 track players are stereo and not mono like the am/fm radio was.

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
Mine isn't either but my front speaker is a 6x9 dual speaker to which I will hook up my 8 Track. The factory Kick Panel speakers are very rare and likely out of my range

I did the same with my CB - I had a GM CB but I decided to use a different model CB because it was a better CB and cooler looking.

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
I believe like the radios the accessory gm 8 tracks are sensitive to 8-10 ohm speakers as well or you can hurt the unit.not saying your 6x9 isn't that just Givin info to make sure everyone knows.

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
That's good. I almost can't wait for my build to be done just so I can cruise around and listen to my 8 tracks. Sometimes I surf ebay just lookin for good 8 tracks just to put in my truck for cruising music. Boy I can't wait!!!

Here is a picture of the crossover used by gm so you can use all 3 speakers. Here is a link to one on ebay for sale.http://www.ebay.com/itm/69-70-71-72-...BSs5Rn&vxp=mtr

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
These speakers are hard to beat for our trucks, reasonably priced and sound great with my Delco AM-FM

Re: How does the accessory 8-track connect to the radio?
x3 - I've installed two of those speakers from S/M Electrotech and the sound is much better than that from a NOS example I put into use. The owner, Greg, also refurbished an OEM am/fm radio for me with good results.
