turning off the timing light

This is the wrong way too do it.

Well I guess that's better than getting the cord stuck in the fan blade.

Dang headers oh well
Time find another $3. Light

I know I'm not the only one out there that had a problem like this

Re: turning off the timing light

I caught the cord of one in the fan blade once. Exciting few seconds, to be sure.

Re: turning off the timing light

That's why I never adjust the timing with the engine running.

Just kidding. But you do have to be careful in there.

Re: turning off the timing light

Ha ha ha. Getting the cord stuck...I knew somebody had to have done it.....that's funny.

Years ago I melted another cord on a header.
I learned my lesson to be carefull.

Then I got a nice timing light. But the lead clamp was dropped/banged around to many times and the magnets broke out.

Now many years later I do this.

Guess I haven't learned.

I once used a friends hf multimeter to check his batt. And alt.

Not paying attention I put it on the wrong setting touched the batt. With the leads and the thing kinda melted in my hand with a good puff of smoke.

I guess this may have been tipical for hf tools I I'm pretty sure it was my fault.

Needless to say I didn't figure out what was wrong with his car after that.

I know you guys have some tool follies stories let's hear them.

Re: turning off the timing light

I have a Ferret Industries tach advance timing light. It was not cheap. I treat it with the utmost respect. One day the boss used it and I chewed him out for having the clamp so close the the exhaust
