score on diffs
So after driving my Jimmy for a year and getting transferred 1000 miles west I decided those 3.07 gears had to go. With the 33" tires I don't get into third great on the old barn yard four speed until 60 Mph and the truck is not happy holding those speeds at low RPM up the steep hills in B.C. I picked up a 1969 blazer rolling chassis for $300 Canadian which is about $9 US these days. Much to my surprise the axles were 3/4 ton with the HD 44 in the front and Dana 60 in the rear. The fella I bought them off was sure they were 4.11 gears so I bought it knowing the 3/4 running gear would have better gears than my axles. Once I got it home I popped off the covers to discover they are in fact 4.11's, super clean inside and the rear 60 was equipped with an old school dana/spicer power lok locker. The front axle came with the rare spicer locking hubs with the blue chevy dials! Not a bad score I must say!
