Finallytime to fill hole's..
Gonna break in the new welder today I figure that I hav about 30 year's worth of hole's to weld up door handle's,marker light's ,steak pocket hole's and many other trim unused hole's to weld up... Got about 25 hole's to weld up on this door and a rocker to replace so much work I am not sure where to start..

I welded up a bunch on my new bedside a while back. I took a piece of 1" copper tubing, about 8" long, and beat the end flat and gave it a little bend. I use that as a back up behind the hole when welding it up. Just take it nice and slow, little spot welds not long plug welds. Also use one of those 3m wheels on a grinder to remove the paint first. Enjoy!

I am also at that same point. I liked the truck but not with all that trim. So I am taking it all off then will have my brother take care of the welding. He has every do dad there is to weld. But one thing I am learning is...Its not going to be done in a day. I got the truck last July thinking it would be done this spring. Well...you have to pay for the roof over your head first and food each week. Plus the wife has a little something to say about the money. SO it might be a year or 2. I have a 69 Chevy camper custom as you can see below. Good luck with yours.

are you completely shaving the truck? ie removing door handles and sidemarkers and all... thats what it sounds like from the first post.

When you grind the welds down use a flap wheel disc instead of a solid disc. It will make the job turn out 10 times easier.

Yep used a flap disk and it sure made the metal work easier by not having to use filler...

I know some people won't like this shot of rust free 72 door with the screw hole welded up... Gonna go with one piece glass so if anyone need's glass ,wind wing's or regulator's I woill take 60 buk's for both side's and shipping or they will hit the dumpster..

The best favor anyone can do for themself is ditch the flux coated wire and pick up a bottle. It makes so much less work for yourself. Plus you get the added bonus of using thinner wire and creating less heat. I used to have a Lincoln Migpak that got ripped off. That was the biggest favor anyone ever did for me. For whoever did it, if you're out there, I owe you a beer.

I haven't started on the holes in my truck yet, been working on the Chevelle to get ready to take it to DelMar in a couple of weeks. Did get a Miller 135, also. It's great. I too have to make a cart for it, but not until after DelMar. That is, if we can afford metal by then. Priced that stuff lately?

it looks like you filled the little rubber bumpstop holes for the ashtray. are you going to use the ashtray still? BTW: It's looking good. I'm not too far ahead of you, I've been sitting at the point where I need to clean out the drip rail and reseal it, plus pull a hail ding out of the roof of the cab. My truck has been primed from the roof down for a few months now. I haven't went any farther because the same reason.... "burn out"
