I'm looking at a 72 C10, with V8, what was offered? 307? where do I find what it came with? and it is 3OTT with a horrible clutch. Is it possible they installed the wrong pressure plate or something it's really stiff, makes my old 3OTT feel like melted butter. Thanks

The spid will tell you what engine the truck originally came with. There were 3 V8's available for your 72 C10. a 307, 350 and 402. If the 3rd digit in your serial number is an E and you have a V8 and there is no engine spelled out on the Spid then you'd have a307. If you have a 350 or 402 it will be printed out on the spid.

Thanks, I'm used to dealing with f-bodies. Blows my mind that upgrade engine/transmission info is printed on a paper sticker that can get easily destroyed. Guess these were disposable trucks though. My 70 has crayon markings all over it..... I did not think to check the SPID as mine has no engine info on it, so what you are saying makes sense as mine is a base model.
