Fyi.. I used to run a junk tube fin style cooler with the 4l80e and a 4,900 rpm verter. The trick is to lock the verter in second gear rifht away at <50% throttle and keep it locked. Trans temp while cruising were a mere 145-150* in 85* weather.

You can't create heat when it ain't slipping...
