Power steering hose frustration

I got all my new steering components installed today. Converted from factory manual steering to power. Bought a CPP 500 series quick ratio box and a Saginaw pump. Got everything bolted up. Last steps were to install the hoses, fill fluid, bleed and drive!!

I had the hoses purchased from Autozone for my truck (72 C20 2wd 5.7) and maybe they will work but I can't figure out the routing. Since the pressure hose has pre bent hard lines on each end I can't figure a way to get the hose on without the fender well or something else getting in the way. Also the return line has the same issue but I know I have that one on the right way since only one end has the pre bent hard line.

Question is do I need special hoses since I have a CPP gear box instead of stock?

Anyone know the correct part #'s or do they sell universal flexible hoses at the local parts house?

Any pics anyone can share of their hose routing from the box to the pump?

Re: Power steering hose frustration

These pictures should help. In the first 3 pics, the steel portion of the return line and pump are the originals. The last shot was taken during the teardown. Everything was original. These are of my 1969 with 350.

The pressure hose is an Edelmann. I bought it on eBay, but Rock Auto also sells them.

You probably need one of those clamps on the frame. I may have one. If so, it's yours for the asking if you want it. It'll be several days before I can check.

Like the pictures show, it's really a mess the way the hoses have to bend. I found the same thing when I added my PS upgrade. Tried the stainless hoses, same thing. Tried to have 2 local hydraulic companies--wouldnt do it. Never did come up with a good solution

Re: Power steering hose frustration

Thank you. I finally figured it out with the help of a friend. We had to use a line bender to modify the hoses Autozone gave me for a 72 c20. They basically now look like yours do. Thanks for the help!!

So far I love it. I've only driven it twice since the conversion. Taking it in tomorrow for an alignment. I will report back after I drive it more after the alignment.
