Ford bench seats

New to the forum, this has probably already been covered but has anyone used a 71 bench seat from a ford truck in theyre 68 c10? Found a nice one on CL with great foam, just trying to find a cheaper way to get a bench seat in my truck

Re: Ford bench seats

I have a '69 Thunderbird seat in my '68 C/10 Stepside. It's got a bench seat and bucket backs with a wide center that flips down to be an armrest. I've had it recovered in saddle color vinyl. It had electric controls for elevation, tilt, forward-back, etc. but the seat draws in excess of 30 amps so I don't have it connected now.
The unit mounts on 4 posts, about 9/16" in diameter. You have to drill these four holes in the cab floor. Reinforcement is required, or the weight of seat and active driver will enlarge the holes under stress. Big washers ~ 2'' diameter will spread the load, but steel plates would be better. The 4 posts have long threaded sections, so big nuts with washers top-and-bottom hold the seat structure in place.
That's for the T-Bird seat. I don't know anything about F150 bench seats. They may be more conventional.

The truck would probably reject the transplant!
