tranny swap help

hey, so thanks for any help or advice in advance. I have a 1990 blazer with the 700r4, my 2-4 band is blown so time for a new tranny. I also have a parts truck 95 s10 2wd with the nv3500. so I was thinking of just, move the nv3500 to the blazer. I'm pretty sure the bell housing will be the same from the 4.3 to the 5.7. I know I have to change the tail housing to accept a transfer case and maybe the output shaft. what I really need to know is, what are your thoughts, is this a good idea? is there anything that i may be missing? i have already taken the clutch petal out and mounted it to the blazer. i plan on just sticking with the same hydrolic clutch. any tips, advice, hints, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Re: tranny swap help

IIRC, the NV 3500 output shaft change requires complete, and I mean complete, dis-assembly of the transmission. The extension housing is different between 2x4 and 4x4.

It would be so much easier to rebuild the 700R4
