But the day you turn the key in your just finished truck will be worth all the craziness and stress you went through....

Re: 1988 Crew Cab Build

Yes it is, I drove my truck like crazy when it did run. Seems like once I pulled the motor out of it I needed it to do stuff haha.

That is a sweet deal on the exhaust, did you ever get that turbo? There was one off a 6.5 on CL not too long ago for like $300, think I PM'd u, but can't remember.
Lol

Nope, no turbo yet.
You did pm me about that turbo.
He wanted $300 for just the turbo, I told him I needed everything. He said come look and we could come up with a price. I told him I wouldn't pay more than $250 for everything... He never responded lol

Guess he wasn't very motivated

Question, and you might know the answer, there is a brand new Stanadyne injection pump on CL for $675, says it is for a 6.2, but if you look at the picture on the paper underneath of it it says for 6.2 to 6.5 conversion, you think that it will work on my non turbo? For that price I am having a hard time passing it up. It doesn't have a part number on it, but I could send a message to them requesting it.

Re: 1988 Crew Cab Build

Just found a picture of a truck with a 4 speed and a ranger splitter installed, seems like it pushes the t-case shifter back quite a ways, might have to do some extra fab on that to make it work right, but doesn't look as bad as I had envisioned, it is installed on this truck.

You can see the 2 sticks and the knob for the t-case

And yes, that is with the TH400, no overdrive, 31 inch tall tires, and all stock with an exhaust leak, and no tail pipe on either muffler, the exhaust is pretty much shot on it.

My wife must be right, I AM that guy everybody hates to get stuck behind!

What size is the monster exhaust on it?
Driving like a geezer is definitely how you get those high gas mileage figures on these 6.2's. On my 1982 6.2 Suburban, I can squeak out between 29 and 31 mpg if I keep it around 55 mph. At a constant 75 mph, fuel economy drops down to 23 mpg. The speed limit has been increased to 85 mph in some parts of TX where I live but I haven't tested what kind of fuel economy it would get at that speed due to the price of diesel.

I have always been a slow driver, i never go over 65 and am usually 5-10 miles under all the speed limits around town. Slow and easy :-)

I think these will polish out really nice and look awesome on the truck.

I know I am straying from my original plans for the truck, but oh well!

Yeah they are 16.5x9.75, so limits me a little on tire choice, but thank GOD for Super Swamper!!!!

I would say someone is a happy camper with a $200 ATS kit, that sucks it isn't you!

Bfgoodrich still makes a 35x12.50x16.5 All-Terrain.

Yeah, they make it in 33" size too IIRC.

And BFGoodrich started making the new HMMWV 37x12.5R16.5 too, but I would have to put a body lift on it with the 4" suspension lift if I went that big.

Is this someone's truck on here? I would like to know a bit more about how this went - modifying the floorboard, sm465 shifter re-bend, t case lever, etc.

Jpalmer, did you ever get around to doing this to your rig? I'm considering this ranger overdrive unit as well and want to know how it went. I'm a bit concerned about having to move everything back 7.25"...
