5 fuel pumps .

Good evening everyone,
I got a major problem with my truck , its 91 c1500 305 , i went through 5 fuel pumps and I think it's time for another one too , when I bought the truck it has a worn out fuel pump , I threw new one and worked for almost one year , the third pump lasted for 4 months, and the last two pumps didn't even complete a month .

It might be tough where you are to get AC Delco fuel pumps, but you should always use an AC Delco (or Delphi), and not an aftermarket pump. Aftermarkets are prone to failure after a short amount of time due to cheap internals.

Re: 5 fuel pumps .

I agree with getting a AC Delco pump. I replaced the pump and sending unit in my 93 1500 with a Delco EP381 pump.

Each pump is different , the third pump was ac delco , after that i got a bosch , and the last one its from denso , I think it's wiring trouble what should i do / check or even change ?

By the way I've changed the fuel filter and sending unit

Re: 5 fuel pumps .

Something that was not mentioned , is that these trucks need at least a quarter tank of fuel all of the time to cool the fuel pump properly . If you are in Arabia (hot) and you are in the habit of running the tank to empty , the fuel pump will overheat . As mentioned ... some of the after market pumps do let go rather quickly and I have seen them fail in 1 to 3 months . I like Delphi brand pumps and have good luck with those .It's my understanding Delphi is a little better than AC Delco even though they are source related. I have also been told Ac Delco builds a higher spec pump that the dealers get and those pumps last longer than the ones consumers get ... again so I have been told.

I did that with the last pump the fuel gauge always above the quarter.
