New guy with a '70 and a question

Quick introduction...

I picked up this 1-owner 1970 C10 this past weekend. When the older white haired gentleman told me he was the original owner, and that the truck spent most of it's life on the farm in North Dakota, I was amazed. The truck, for our part of the country (Western Wisconsin) was in relatively good condition from a rust perspective.

Here's the question: The original owner mentioned that the seat had been replaced with one from another truck awhile back. As you can see, the seat is in poor condition. Before I have it recovered, could anyone confirm that this is the correct seat for a 67-72 C10? The seat brackets did match up the holes in the floor, but the color is orange/brown, while the interior of the truck is actually black, so it's obvious this is not the original seat as he mentioned. Thanks in advance!

Re: New guy with a '70 and a question

Thanks 12-second!

Now if I could just figure out what truck this seat came out of I'd be GOLDEN. I've looked at pics online, and can't seem to find another one with the same upholstery style. I guess in the end it doesn't REALLY matter, as the seat fits the truck fine, but I don't want to drop some coin on reupholstering the seat if it's actually not the correct seat for the truck. If anyone wants to chime in on the seat style, please do!

Thanks. The thing that is throwing me is that all of the pics I'm seeing of similar seats, have the fabric inserts going all the way to the front edge of the seat. As you can see, the fabric on this seat ends before it gets to the forward edge of the seat cushion.

Oh well... LOL

Post a pic of the brackets that connect the rear of the slider to the seat frame. That should tell the year of the seat. Here is a thread on the differences: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=510997

BINGO!!

Thanks 70STOVEBOLT, that's exactly the info I was looking for.

Based on that thread you posted, it looks like this seat is a '71-'72 vintage.
