I like these next couple of shots of the interior. You can see the better Cheyenne badge on the dash. If you look close, you can see the new pedals.

Where did you get the dash pad? It looks too nice to be original.

John, kind of funny you mentioned that! It was actually me that hooked Joe(Squarebody Syndicate) up on the yellow spray paint. I had been using it forever when he was still using model brush paint. I will also add that the spray will last a LOT longer than any model paint! It is designed for industrial outdoor use. Thank being said, that Blazer is beautiful!

Thanks Jeff. The more I'm around the mandarin orange with orange plaid interior the more I question why GM never pulled the trigger on the combo. It feels so honest to the 70s vibe.

Re: 1978 Russet Metallic 4x4

I'm still waiting on the wheels, but I accomplished some things today:
  • Installed Correct Color Temp HID Bulb on the Driver's Side
  • Installed GM Compass Accessory and Convex Mirror Overlay (Dad Likes Them)
  • Got the Truck Inspected and Registered
  • Checked Fluids and All Functions (Gas Gauge Indicator is Weirdly Offset)

I tightened up the fog lamps. Had the steering aligned. Still have a mystery clunk under the driver's feet. Got the new Ramsey stickers, but I'll wait to install. I have the Daystar Isolator for the winch cable coming with a new winch controller. Still need to cut the custom mud mats. I'm keeping the steps covered until the unveiling with Dad. Here are some updated pictures (good light):

Just Awesome

Beautiful. Did it come with intermittent wipers or did you retrofit them?

Hello!

Where were you able to locate the dark saddle color for the door panels to match the other door components and the dash too!?

You have an awesome truck!!

Thanks. I gave the truck back to my Dad today. He was really excited. The door panels are not saddle color. It's GM's mandarin orange. It's kinda a orange saddle. The matching vinyls are more orange, but the panel is definitely not saddle. There's a company in California called Just Dashes that will take the door panels and dash , sand the oxidized plastic out and then rewrap in color matched hard vinyl. It's really nice stuff, but super expensive.

Re: 1978 Russet Metallic 4x4

I just received the 4X4 center caps for the rear. We're installing the rear spacers tomorrow. We're replacing the defective clock and the bad gas gauge sending unit next week when parts arrive.

Wow truck looks incredible. I have the exact same plaid on the seats on my 78 jimmy but the driver seat needs to be re upholstered. I saw you said they were new 40 yr old seats. Did you order the cloth somewhere and take them in? Want to get mine repaired too. Any info on how to go about that would be much appreciated.

Great job love to see these trucks look original.

Hi Denslo: Thanks for the compliments. The company is called SMS. They're out of Oregon I believe. Expensive stuff, but original and awesome.

Re: 1978 Russet Metallic 4x4

The original (I think) blower motor started to make an awful squeal on start-up, so I hunted down a NOS blower motor and installed. Problem solved.

Re: 1978 Russet Metallic 4x4

I was at the Buffalo Wild Wings the other night and the Blazer refused to start. Usually starts as easy as pie. Wires are fresh, good grounds, just starter turning and no spark. Came back the next morning and after a few tries, started up fine. No problems since.........I don't trust the coil. Out you go.

Doesn't look bad:

These are getting harder to find:
