Barn door weather strip

Do they make weather stripping for the Suburban rear barn doors? I'm about to start stripping the paint off and start body work on them.

Re: Barn door weather strip

Paul,
I am pretty sure they do. When I bought my panel the PO had bought all new seals and they were still in plastic bags in the back of the panel. There were seals for the rear windows and left /right door seals.

Re: Barn door weather strip

Thanks Richard! I saw that one of the vendors has what looks like all of the weather stripping. The long rear side window seals are over $200 each though! Hopefully I can re-use the ones on my 68.

How was the quality of the stuff you got?

Re: Barn door weather strip

The stuff that came with the Panel I have not used. I ended up finding a pair of almost NOS rear barn doors last year from Harry and all the seals on the doors and windows were still soft and like new so I doubt I will be using these. a couple of the bags have GM Restoration parts labels on them others just have a part number. Obviously since they were bought for the panel there are no side window ones either.

Re: Barn door weather strip

I got mine from LMC truck, but I do know that GMC Pauls has them, and he's a supporting vendor here.

Steele Rubber Parts and Weather-stripping has the "press on adhesive" type that are well made with good fit.

Re: Barn door weather strip

Sorry to drag this up ! Anyone got a photo of the left hand barn door gasket at the corner (a small wedge at the bottom right)? I installed mine but it is catching when the other barn door (passenger side) is closed. I am sure I did something wrong in the location of the gasket.

Re: Barn door weather strip

Frank here is the picture I think you need. Yours does not appear to be correct. The pictures I have posted are from an original door. Hope they help out.

Re: Barn door weather strip

Mystery solved ! Thanks for the pictures ! I now remember the small "bracket" imbedded in the original rubber (which helps hold the corner to the door with the small screw). I think I can McGuyver it . Thanks for the speedy responce !
