I need help finding two little parts
I'm looking for two particular small parts for my 74 truck.
First, is the wiring harness gutter that screws to the firewall. It's similar to a 67-72 one but I'm not sure whether it's the same. The other part I'm trying to find is a proper brake pedal pad with the Disc Brakes nomenclature on it. I'd rather not use the generic one shown. I'd appreciate any input on sources to find these two items. Last edited by Shady Rascal; 06-01-2016 at 11:29 AM. |

Re: I need help finding two little parts
Can't help you on the harness rubber, but I do have a GM part number for the pedal cover. I needed to find one of those myself. GM #39936614. They can be had for as low as $6.99, and are available from several vendors

Re: I need help finding two little parts
I guess I should say that I found the pedal cover pretty readily. It's made by Goodmark. But I can't find anyone who stocks it. Even using Summit, which is my go-to for Goodmark stuff, it shows backorder.
I googled your part number and I can't find anything. Last edited by old Rusty C10; 06-04-2016 at 09:56 PM. |

Re: I need help finding two little parts
You sir, are the man.
I got one ordered from, of all places, a Corvette parts house. http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1980-1981.html I'm glad I didn't have to tell them that it is going on an old pickup with a six cylinder and a three speed on the column. Corvette guys don't like their parts disrespected like that. |

Back when Dad was building our '63 Pontiac Lemans coupe he ordered a set of Corvette dual quad air cleaners (it was the same air cleaner for both the Corvette and the Pontiac). He called some Corvette place (...before there was an "internet"...) and a kid answers the phone, says "...can I help you?". Dad says "..yeah, I'd like to order a set of these air cleaners". The kid says "sure, what are they going on?" Dad says "...'63 Pontiac". The kid says "...hang on." and puts Dad on hold. He's waiting, and waiting (and wondering "what the heck?") when finally this gentleman gets on the phone and says "...what the problem here?!". Dad says "I don't know. I was ordering a set of these air cleaners and I got put on hold". The guy says "... what are they for?". Dad says (again) "...'63 Pontiac". The guy just starts laughing... So now Dad's thinking, "Geez, what kind of place is this? You try to buy something and one guy hangs up on you and the other guy laughs at you!" The guy says: "You Pontiac guys: didn't you hang on to anything?!?" Apparently we weren't the first Pontiac enthusiasts to call wanting a set of those Corvette aircleaners....

Re: I need help finding two little parts
If you don’t mind me asking what would be the part number for the matching longer automatic brake peddle pad?

Re: I need help finding two little parts
No wiring gutter yet. One of the 67-72 guys posted his next to a tape measure. It looks quite a bit longer and has different mount holes. All else failing I will get one and trim it to match mine and live with having empty screw mount holes along the top.

Re: I need help finding two little parts
I have found 454 big block engine accessories from Corvette suppliers also. Corvette Central seems to have more parts available.

Re: I need help finding two little parts
Tons of correct detail parts for your engine, heater hoses and vacuum lines are second to none. Has reasonable NOS tower clamps as well.

Re: I need help finding two little parts
The Shady Rascal got a chance to install the 67-72 wiring gutter this morning. This came from LMC and it was a quick, painless, order. It did take some trimming and shaping with a sharp razor blade to get it shaped basically like the original one.
The old original one was cracked and broken into three pieces. Modified 67-72 piece isn't an exact match and wouldn't ever please a car show judge. |
