Parking brake

Can anybody point me in the direction of a new parking break unit? Mine is all rusted up on my truck and I'm tired of using a block as my parking break when I want to get out with the truck running still.

The cable or the whole pedal?

Here's the cable:

Re: Parking break

What's rusted up the pedal or cables or both?

Pedals are a salvage yard item.
Cables are model year range and model specific. RockAuto, Local Auto Parts store, ...

RTFM... GM Parts Books, GM Schematics, GM service manuals, and GM training materials...Please include at least the year and model in your threads. It'll be easier to answer your questions.
And please let us know if and how your repairs were successful.

The pedal mainly. The cable I will need as well but those are easier to find. Does LMC offer a reproduction pedal?

Re: Parking break

By pedal do you mean the whole pedal assembly? (pedal rubber, pedal arm, spring, switch, etc.)

No way I'd buy a cheap poor fitting Asian knockoff when you can go to any round eye 73-80 or square eye 81-91 Truck, Blazer, or Suburban shell and unbolt one.

I did a cursory search on Car-Part.com Around $35 from a couple salvage vendors.

How did you get the E-Brake pedal so rusty that it's not serviceable?

Just realized I spelled brake wrong in the title.

Anyways the truck sat for around 10 years and had really bad rust before I started working on it. The brake assembly is quite rusted. Its possible that I could clean it up and get it in working order again but I was hoping someone offered an OEM replacement for it. Ill have to hit up craigslist or ebay and look for one. Not many salvage yards in my area that I know of.

Re: Parking break

Search car-part.com
You will find you have more salvage yards near you than you knew.

There are a couple about 45 minutes away from me that a quick google search revealed. Might make a trip out there and see if I can find anything useful.

Car-part.com might reveal more. I'm speaking from having to do this not long ago. Did a Google search and didn't find a whole lot. Did a search for parts on car-part, and found several within 1/2 hr. Just small places but they had an 84 C10 that I was able to get more more than what I needed. Searching car-part will tell you also if they even have what you want instead of driving there to find out they don't.

What part should I search for to find the park brake assembly?

Re: Parking break

Ebay would still be my choice. I see a few listed there for cheap. Most sellers will take a return if you get burnt on a bad one.

Re: Parking break

I bought a E Brake Pedal Assy from Truck and Car Shop a few months ago. It came in GM packaging. $73 plus shipping. p/n 73-34312. covers years 73-87.
