air cleaner clearance question

a question for you wizards here.

I have my 83 k3500 mostly back together now, and I am running into an unforseen problem. I have an aftermarket aluminum intake that is a bit taller than the factory one. This truck also came with a super tall air cleaner housing that will be too tall for the hood. Is there a shorter set up? It still has the spark arrestor inside which is tall. I know there are shorter filter elements. is there an existing lid i can find that is the same diameter as the housing? it has vacuum attachments and a switch i cant eliminate due to smog, so I am at a loss.

Re: air cleaner clearance question

Which intake did you get? I am running a Quadrajet on an edelbrock performer with the tall element and just clear the hood.
