For all of you out there that feel jealous seeing us Californians, Arizonans and Texans or any other worm winter states using out trucks during the winter. I wanted to lessen the pain and create a thread that talks about how to store your truck when it is too hot to drive it (without AC). Sense it will be 110 today where I live and and in some near by cities will be up to 120, are there any good tips out there on how to store your truck for the summer?

We should start a truck exchange program. You know like sending the kids off to summer camp or ranch. Where can I pick yours up. Scorching 88F in the shade here today.

Gonna be in the 90's this week here in Oregon...and my 64 GMC without a/c is my daily....weather it be cold or hot. haha When the 66 is done I will be getting a/c installed no questions asked.

If youre totally serious....

I think 110 in Burbank CA for a day is not extreme heat by anybodies scale! But If you were talking about Phoenix or Yuma AZ.... or Maybe Las Vegas, or Fallon NV. where they see 120 all summer. yea I might put it away....

Same storage measures as a winter put-away.... FUEL #1 - remove it or Stabil it.... battery #2 - trickle charger, Fluids #3 - fill them all up and put straight 100% anti-freeze in the block and radiator to prevent rust.

Yeah, the crazy thing is it goes from 60 to 90. Back to 60, then back to 90. This Rollercoaster has been going on for about 6 weeks now.

Yep, I was born and raised in Woodland California.
I think with the humidity up here, I prefer 120 down there over 90 up here.

I don't know guys, I lived in Tempe, AZ in the 60's and I don't remember anyone putting their truck away for the summer cause it was hot.

I was just joking

While I will not be driving it to work in the 110 degree heat at the average speed of 14 mph I will still be driving it on the weekends.

Here are 2 cheap fixes that help keep the ol' cab a bit cooler...
1. Put a shut off valve on your heater hose. Then, if you have a fresh air type heater you can open the air flap and have another vent.

2. Plug all the holes in your firewall. Seems obvious but I see too many old classics with "exhaust powered heaters". Not only will you stay cooler but it will quiet down the noise too.

My old boss traveled quite a bit with the family in a car with no air conditioning. A container of ice on the floor with a fan on it, windows closed.
