Bummer , not too worried about it though, I'll figure something out. Right now I'm just trying to figure out the cheapest way to get it home! Right now I'm looking at at least $150-200 bucks in fuel, plus trailer rental for a few days. I get paid every two weeks so I'm figuring at least one pay check out until I can go get it and bring it home which is quite a bummer. But hey, it could Always be worse.

I got a cab from a body shop in San Marcos a while back and the guy there told me about an area in south San Diego that is all junk yards, he described it as a long street with yards on each side. He said when they have older cars and trucks to repair they go to the yard all the way at the end of the street and on the right, that they have more older stuff. I have never been there but with some googling you might be able to make some calls. The parts section here has some great deals but if you want to post a want to buy add you need to be a supporting member. |

Here's a few pictures I received today. My Uncle stuck a battery in it, turned the (what we thought was the ignition key) and the windshield wipers came on! Apparently there are two spots on the dash, one on each side of the column, for an ignition key. Tried turning the key and it didn't even crank. Maybe it needs a new ignition switch? Pushed on the brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor, going to check the master cylinder, thinking it probably needs a new one as well. It also needs new bulbs for the blinkers. Anyone have any ideas as to why there are two key holes on the dash instead of just one on the right side? I don't think that's stock but I am not completely sure.

H in the VIN is Fremont Ca Plant. ( thanks factorystock for finding this info)
There were no 64's produced in Oakland as the plant had been shut down in 63. http://www.ultra-high-compression.com/fremont-tour.html Z62 is the Custom Comfort Option.

Did a bit more digging today, and with the help of my mom, found a classic car and truck restoration shop called "Second Chances Garage" which specializes in restoring and finding all the history linked to the cars and trucks that they work on and restore. Spent a little while reading on their page and found out that I can send a letter to the DMV asking them to release the information of who the previous owners were of the truck, they even have a sample letter to the DMV that I will be able to use. So today I've been searching around for tires and I need some advice, the truck has 10 inch wide rims with 12 inch wide tires all the way around that were off of the PO's old 4x4 Blazer. The truck needs two new front tires, since the back are in ok shape and hold air, I'm just worried about the front, but it seems to me like 12 inch wides up front as well is quite ridiculous, would the best thing to do be to find two 10 inch wide tires to put on the rims, or should I think about going to skinnier rims all together up front. 10 wides up front still seems a bit large but that would be better than 12's.

Narrower wheel and little or no offset is best ....Those wide wheels have WAY to much outer offset and load the outer (small) wheel bearing beyond what it is designed for

275/60/15 ..... 275 is the width 275MM......60 is 60% of the width in this case 275MM is the height ( 275x.6=165MM) from the wheel to the OD (ground) of the tire ....and 15 is the wheel diameter 15"

OPPS 60 is 60% of the width in this case 275MM ..... (275x.6=165MM) So 165MM is the height from the wheel to the OD (ground) of the tire ....and 15 is the wheel diameter
