Front air dam

Anyone have any thoughts on the pros and or cons on having the front air dam below the front bumper or not?
Thanks

Um.............if it's not mounted under the front bumper where else would you mount it???

That's where it's mounted from the factory!

There's no pro's or con's either you have it there or you dont have it at all.

Well sorta it doe's what it's name inply's it dam's air up and into the front of the truck for better radiator cooling.

There's not that much more cooling provided by one.

I think it has a bigger visual effect than a functional one.

Andrew,
Thanks for clarifying my question. that's exactly what I wanted to know. I see my some of the responses, I was not succinct enough.
Thanks Again

I agree, it's mostly visual. I have one on my '74 and the only downside to it is scraping it on those cement curb things they have in parking lots.

If you plan to buy one....you can get the one for the 4wd and it will hang a litle lower. It fits the same, and the cost was the same at the dealer. Thiis a oic of the 4wd spoiler on my 2wd, dropped 2.5 inches.

Just hit over 110mph in our trucks and you will "feel" why they are there.
Waaay too much front-end lift to be safe.

oh yeah.........before anyone says "how did you know you were doing 110 when our speedos don't go that high?" I used a small GPS unit that records mph.

I went from a broken 2wd air dam to the 4wd one. I did not notice any difference in mileage, but it looks a lot better.

I want to know too and preferrably with pics. Where do you guys get these airdams? I found none on ebay and I don't want a new one because it's likely I'll rip it off on the first speedbump

I've got the 2wd version on mine, 6" front drop. Looks good, but scraped up. I'm on my 4th one now, they don't last too long with regular driving on a low truck.

I'm on my third one!! Five bucks at the bone yard... Some are cracked, but it will be cracked later on anyways..
I noticed a big difference on the freeway after I put one on, it just felt more stable at speed, not sure on gas milage..
