Left Side Battery Tray

Is there a tray made or a way to use the standard right hand side battery tray on the left side? I'm needing a place for a very LARGE aux battery (12" x 6.5" x 8.2") and the left side of the engine compartment is the only place I can see using.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

They made factory auxillary battery trays that went on the left side, they are pretty spendy used, however the guys who put newer fuel injected motors pyut them on the left side, I am not sure what year the battery tray comes out of that they use.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I almost bought another parts truck just because it had a drivers side battery tray. Then I realized I was paying $200.00 just to have a battery tray I didn't need.

Does anyone know where I can find one? If not, it's time to break out the welder and build one myself.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I tried searching an old thread but I couldn't find it. A while back some of us bought new ones from a Scotts super trucks ( .com for the web site) I picked up two and I was impressed, solid and paainted black. If I can remember they were offered to this board at $75 plus shipping, don't quote me on it, plus the dollar has changed.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I have not found a source for replacement Aux. Battery trays, and thery are pretty expesive used.

One thought tho - if they cost that much more, cant the brackets be swapped on a RH tray to make it fit on a LH?

Has amyone tried that?

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

Tri Pro opted not to make them because Scott's already had them.

I posted a deal on them, they really aren't expensive at all. Quick search netted that post, along with purchase information.

Link to that thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...illary+battery

Have fun!

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I have this dealer add on version that holds a bigger battery than stock. This was on my 71 C20 Camper Special with a 402BB. It will clean up very nice. Mounts to radiator support and inner fender.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

yeah, i posted the link to the thread up about 5 posts from ya.

as a point of note, and this is important: '67 and '68 trucks DO NOT USE the same core support as the 69-72 do. the auxillary (driver side) battery tray provisions DO NOT exist on the 67-68 core support, so if you have a 67-68 be very well prepared to drill and tap holes for the battery tray

i learned the hard way!

I can't see mounting a $250 Kinetik HC2000 under the truck on these Oklahoma roads. I've decided that I'll just build one over the weekend. I have plenty of angle iron at the house that should work nicely. Thanks for all the replies though.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I have the drawings for laser cutting and bending the sides. The tray itself is easy to buy. I looked into making those years ago but the demand vs cost to build wasn't worth it for me.

Re: Left Side Battery Tray

I have an extra never used but the tray is from Rock auto for a 67 stock right hand tray..

I was wrong - have 2 sets and 1 new tray plus my metal templates. See my old thread.
