Need some help..first truck/first time posting on here! 1971 GMC 2500

Hello...so I just bought my first truck off a coworker who got it into a fender bender.....so i got the truck real cheap and I'm going to slowly fix it back up...
Its a 1971 GMC 2500 Sierra ..or a Sierra Grande...two tone green and white with all the trim on it....paints real faded, but i love the color.

My question is would a 67-69 or 70 radiator support and fender fit on my truck?
Theres a guy close to me who's selling one cheap but i don't want to buy it if it won't fit right....i know the grills are different through those years....i've heard different things from different people but i am sure I'll get the right answer here.

Hope someone can steer me in the right direction!

Thank you!

Welcome to the board.

Look at the LMC catalog to see the differences between the fenders, 67-68 used different core supports so those fenders usually don't work on 69-72 without changing everything. GMC is a different animal altogether, I still have no idea what fender is on mine.

69-72 radiator support is the same, 67-68 will not work unless you change the front end style to 67-68. Hope this helps . Congrats on the new to you ride, and we always want to see pics of these new rides

As other have said 69-72 is the same. If its a chevy front clip youre looking at youll have to change the radiator support too. 68 chevy fenders and 68-72 gmc fenders are the same just fyi

The lower trim is not tied to it being a Sierra, Sierra Grande or just a custom. Any combo could order up that lower 'belt' molding.
You need to look in the glovebox and find the 'spid' on the inside surface of it. It is a printed list that should be attached to the inside surface and it will list all the options that would have come on the truck including the primary model option....ie: Sierra, Sierra Grande etc.
All Good

Re: Need some help..first truck/first time posting on here! 1971 GMC 2500

That's a Sierra. Z84 custom sport truck is the Sierra option on gmcs. Belt molding at the top left corner of your spid is the upper molding.
I'm not as familiar with gmc but with the Cheyenne trim level on a Chevy the wood grain lower molding is standard equipment. I can only assume gmc would be the same because its the same trim level.

That's a hard hit. It looks like the front door pillar is bent by the way the door sits in the opening. I can tell if it's an optical illusion and the door is just open or its bent. Looks like a nice truck to me otherwise. Look forward to following your progress.

Yeah it was a pretty hard hit...but..i'm not sure if that door pillar is bent...in person seems like the door almost got pulled off the hinge where the fender went right into it..but...we'll see once its completely apart....hopefully by next weekend the whole front end will straightened out, with new parts on it..then going on to mechanical.
