Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Nothing exciting but damn it, I got out there. Got my battery box bottom and the spring and pin for the hood safety handle latch in the mail, and got the holes drilled in it to install. Got the hood safety latch handle sand blasted, not much but something, my five minutes.

Yup. It's a '97-'02 Ranger CHMSL. This one almost fits the contour of the roof right out of the box, but I did have to increase the radius slightly using a 3" disc. It has an integral backup light as well.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

I went to a estate auction saturday. Bought what I think is a 1988 chevy 1500 with 4 wheel drive. The engine has the heads and intake taken off. It all there all the parts complete truck. 100% rust free. a few dents. I towed it home with my 1982 3/4 tom wrecker. They couldnt find the title So I dont know if I want to spent money on a bonded title and fix it or just part it out?

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

I had the front and rear glass installed and hung the doors. This makes for a much more civilized driving experience ! I'm not completely pleased with the stance, I'd like to lower it in the rear by about two inches and rise the front a little. I did install new Camaro big block coil springs in the front but only helped raise it about 1/2". The rear springs(The entire rear clip)are from a 1986 c-10 so lowering leafs are available. I also ordered and had delivered a wiring harness from EZ wiring so my next two days are going to be busy.

Welded (14 ) 1/4 x 1-1/2 studs on polished stainless steel bed angle strip covers So the screw heads won’t show. Now the task of polishing begins.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

All last winter i worked on the truck after i bought it to get it ready for summer. Then i spent the summer fixing all the unknown issues so it would operational to the point i could drive it and enjoy it.

This week i have put more miles on it than i have in the last three months and i love it. Stopped in at my favourite coffee shop yesterday and snapped this pic.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

truck looks real nice.

I have been driving our 55 for most of the week and so far no major problems, lots of rattles and such but it goes down the road nice. Had the front end rebuilt, new rear springs, new seats, had the 700r4 hooked up properly seems to be working ok. no pics yet will try this weekend.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Got an new set of aluminum valve covers off the guys at "The Speed Shop" on ebay. Came with gaskets, allen bolts and grommets. I had a inexpensive chrome set on the engine for the last 3 years, and they never did seal correctly. These should seal up better and look good as well!
