Re: Craigslist find...the Holy Grail of squares - NOT MINE
900000 short bed step side 4x4 '87 TBI 350 trucks.... I call BS ( you edited your post...it did say you watched 900,000 of them roll by, hence my comment)
I do care what you have to say about squares 99% of the time, but the truth is these truck in this condition are getting rare. Mike

The truth is we used to build these things until we were sick of them (about 15 million squares total); all different shapes and sizes. I used to see trucks going by when I would close my eyes at night. Any truck is 1 of 1 when you break it down far enough. The Marti report makes it's money that way - I saw a Mustang of some sort that was broken down until it was the only "blue one" with the optional block heater. Its to the point of ridiculousness. I suspect there was a 4x4 TBI M20 trans or two (thousand) in that mix. That's not really my thing, which is why I ordered mine as a 2wd with the MY6 trans. That IS my thing. K BTW - 900,000 trucks is about right. That's one per minute, 8 to 10 hours a day, over a six year period.

Re: Craigslist find...the Holy Grail of squares - NOT MINE
I get what you are saying Keith. None of these trucks are really rare. I was more referring to the seemingly more popular '87 year, and the fact that it's fairly unmolested.
I have only ever had the opportunity to drive 1 MY6/A833 truck. It was a much more enjoyable driver than a SM465 truck. Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to buy one. I could start another discussion by stating they are "rare"! Mike
