Replacing I6 with 396 clutch help
I'm replacing my I6 in my 67 with a 69 396 and keeping the 3OTT. I have most of the parts for the swap.
Can I use my existing bellhousing, flywheel, clutch and starter?

Re: Replacing I6 with 396 clutch help
Do you have 168 tooth flywheel? If you do you should be able to, but I don't think the big block has the ability to use the 153 tooth flywheel just based on what I've come across.
Depending on the clutch that you have you might not want to... What transmission are you planning to run? The 3 speed? If an SM465 the bearing retainer bore is a larger diameter.

Re: Replacing I6 with 396 clutch help
Bellhousing should work and if the big block has provisions for the straight across starter bolts it should work regardless of the flywheel. But I would be looking at more clutch than the 6 cylinder came with unless it has the optional HD clutch.
You need to know what parts you have first then you can finalize what will or won't work.
