20" Rims for GMC C10 - Need Opinions/Advice

Hello all,

I have a lowered Blue GMC short Wide Bed and I am in the market for some new rims. I am after a more pro-touring style look for the truck. I really like the look of a gray 5 spoke rim with a chrome lip but want to stay away from 338's and Ridlers as I feel they are the go to 5 spoke gray rim for any classic truck or muscle car.

Here's a link to see a photo of my truck. http://s350.photobucket.com/user/der...rfuyl.jpg.html

As for style of rim, I like as little of a ledge as possible on the barrel of the rim. So I really like when the spoke meets the barrel with as little of a ledge as possible.

My Favorite (but also the most expensive) are US Mags Standard U202. $2,600 rims only

http://us-mags.com/standard-u202-w-5382.htm

My second favorite is the Billet Specialties Mag G but also on the more expensive side. $2,2000 rims only

http://www.billetspecialties.com/whe...sseries/mag-g/

I also like the American Racing CLASSIC TORQ THRUST II as they are price friendly and look sharp. $1,200 rims only

http://www.americanracing.com/wheel/...ust-ii-1-piece

Another option cheaper than the US Mags and Billet's but pricier than TT2 are the Rocket Racing Booster in Gray. $1,600 rims only

http://www.rocketracingwheels.com/ro...oster-gray/p25

As a complete curveball, as they fit the pro-touring look well I also really like US Mags Rambler U111. My concern here is that they are not as much of a timeless rim as the others mentioned above but with a price tag at about $1,000 for the rims I am strongly considering going the less traditional route.

http://www.mhtwheels.com/rambler-u111-w-6133.htm

Finally, the Boyd Junkyard Dog is another solid option as they are going for a good price on Jegs. $1,000 for rims only

http://www.jegs.com/p/Boyd-Coddingto...98700/10002/-1

I would appreciate any and all opinions and advice as this is a big purchase for my truck. I want something you don't see on a C10 everyday so I am after originality. But I also don't want to settle for the most cost friendly rim (i.e. TT2) when it has some styling features I am not in love with (i.e. larger chrome ledge on barrel of rim.)

Post a pic of your truck.

In my opinion, if you put a picture of all the 5 spoke wheels next to each other, you can barely tell the difference. However I'm sure my wallet could tell the difference between $2600 US Mags vs the $1000 Boyds.

I just bought a set of the Rambler's for my truck because I didn't want to have 5 spoke wheels like everyone else.

If I had to choose a 5 spoke, I like the RR Booster's, Mag G's, and the Boyd wheels because the spokes are more angular than the others.

Good luck with the decision.

Post "after" pictures too!

Do you have photos of your truck with the Ramblers on? And were they 20''?

Just a few questions

How far is your truck lowered?

Do you have leaf springs in the rear or coil springs?

Do you know which rear axle housing you have in your truck? There were two produced in the 67-72 model years. The earlier ones are shorter.. it would be worth your time to measure it to be sure as it will impact your backspacing on your new wheels.

Are you planning to do a lot of hauling with this truck or just a cruiser, occasional bag of dog food or a load of mulch / gravel ? ( assuming no, but.. ) anything real heavy? Boat, camper, etc. ?

Why grey center ? Just a preference thing? Do you like the American Racing salt flat type look ?

Your post is a little confusing, as you say you want something unique and not often seen on C10's, but you've narrowed your options to 5 spoke wheels, which are arguably one of the most commonly seen wheels on not only these trucks, but nearly every classic vehicle!

The U111 wheels fit what you're after in the originality dept.

I agree it is slightly confusing, I guess I am admitting defeat because I do love a gray 5 spoke but am just trying to decide which gray 5 spoke is the most unique or we see the least.

So that if I do go with one, I atleast have a set that you don't see on every other C10.

So It's lowered about 2" all the way around. I eventually want to put bags on it or a hotckis performance suspension and lowering kit to give it better handling and a meaner stance. It has rear coils and I am actually not sure about the rear axle housing.....

Also, no hauling at all, just a cruiser and I just love the look of a gray center, think it plays well with my blue and I plan on painting the top white and the grill inserts to match the rim color.

Re: 20" Rims for GMC C10 - Need Opinions/Advice

I'm in the same boat as you, at least on the style you're looking for. The first 5 spoke ones you posted are great and do stand out among the 5 spoke wheels in my opinion. The Rambler, however, are the best bang for the buck and also give a really nice update for our trucks. They're first in line on my personal list. Not sure of 18" or 20" thought.
And yes, lowering it with a relatively tall sidewall to fill in any fender gap is going to be a must for any up-size wheel/tire combo to look decent.

The best wheel is one that fits the best.
Determine the proper size wheel and tire with the correct backspacing and they will be perfect.
So many people choose a wheel with limited bs option because of a cheaper price.
Go with a custom made wheel to your specs.
My first choice would be the Mag-G from Billet Specialties.
Pick what you like ,... And don't worry about what everybody else has.
