Sticky Brake?

The previous owner mentioned this before I bought the truck and I have now experienced it for myself: The driver side rear brake occasionally locks up. I think it's happened about 3 or 4 times now when coming to a stop at a stop sign or traffic signal. Does anybody have an idea what would cause this?

Re: Sticky Brake?

You probably have grease or brake fluid leaking & getting on the linings. Or it may be an emergency brake cable sticking or adjusted up too tight.

Re: Sticky Brake?

The brake shoes with long and short lining might be reversed. They need to be installed in a particular way, or the shoes can have a tendency to bind with the drum and not fully release.

Re: Sticky Brake?

wheel cyl could be starting to rust inside and sticking sometimes most people don't change fluid all that often and brake fluid sucks in moisture . its relatively cheap to do rear brakes id replace everything .
