Windshield Washer Pump

I bought a Universal Windshield Washer Pump Kit from LMC and it worked for three weeks then failed. Has anyone had success with a certain type? Any ideas?

Thanks for the info!

Re: Windshield Washer Pump

I've found that any positive displacement pump (piston pump) will work, but most pumps that small are rotary vane. They are unable to prime and then overheat and fail.

I went through 3 until I ordered a -cheaper- pump that turned out to be displacement style, and it worked fine, though it's not as fast.

The best will be the rotary pump mounted below the water line like the S10 mod, but some of us don't want a late model tank underhood.

Davepl,

Please post a part number or a link for the pump you are talking about. My experience with the "universal" pumps has not been good as they all have failed no matter where they were mounted. If they lost the prime, they failed.

The S10 pump I used looks better in person, than the pics posted.

Sorry, I wish I could, but it's just some Chinese el-cheapo pump I picked up somewhere, and I don't even recall where or how now. I'll be in the same boat when this one dies!
